For the best level 6 Town Hall base, we recommend a compact hybrid layout: keep the Town Hall, Clan Castle, mortars, and storages in a tight inner block, while perimeter defenses create several short funnels. It protects resources without making the Town Hall an easy first target, making it the strongest all-purpose TH6 choice for normal farming and defense.
A TH9 base needs more than a scaled-up TH6 plan. With two X-Bows, stronger heroes, more compartments, and a larger defensive inventory, a max TH9 base can specialize for farming, war, or trophy protection.
How account progression changes the layout and defensive assumptions
At TH6, we have too few buildings to create a genuinely wide maze. A compact design is therefore safer: overlapping splash damage should protect several storages, and the Clan Castle should be difficult to lure. We should also keep the Town Hall away from the outer wall so a small ground attack cannot gain an immediate star.
At max TH9, we can use layered compartments, offset defenses, and misleading entry points. The recommendations below assume all TH9 defensive buildings are built and upgraded, including both X-Bows, Air Defenses, Wizard Towers, Teslas, Mortars, Cannons, Archer Towers, and traps. They also assume level 30 Barbarian King and Archer Queen. Walls may be less important than finished defenses, but a weak wall section can still expose the core.
Best level 6 Town Hall base: complete compact hybrid for farming and defense
Build the layout as four defensive zones:
- Core: Place the Town Hall beside the Clan Castle and Dark Elixir Storage in the central compartments. Keep the highest-value storage protected by both the Clan Castle troops and nearby splash damage.
- Inner ring: Put the three Mortars in separate compartments, with the two Wizard Towers beside different groups of Gold and Elixir Storages. This stops one Giant push from disabling every splash defense.
- Air coverage: Place the two Air Defenses on opposite sides of the core. Put Air Bombs near likely Balloon approaches, rather than directly beside an Air Defense where one attack can trigger everything at once.
- Outer ring: Use Cannons and Archer Towers to cover each other around the perimeter. Place Teslas just inside the outer ring, where they punish Giants or Wall Breakers that reach the first compartment.
Place Spring Traps between defenses on the most direct Giant route, and use small Bombs at wall openings or likely troop-deployment tiles. Leave collectors outside the main wall so attackers spend time clearing them while defenses fire. This is the best use of the layout: a home-village hybrid for farming, resource protection, and routine defense. We would use a separate war map if the priority is denying a carefully planned three-star attack.
Max TH9 base layouts: farming, war, and trophy priorities for core, heroes, defenses, storages, and traps
Farming layout: Centralize the Town Hall, Clan Castle, and Dark Elixir Storage, then distribute Gold and Elixir Storages among four surrounding compartments. Keep the Barbarian King and Archer Queen on the core side so they defend the storage ring rather than an exposed collector. Place one X-Bow on ground mode and the other on air-and-ground mode, with Wizard Towers covering storage clusters and Air Defenses separated. Use Giant Bombs between compartments, Springs on Giant routes, and Seeking Air Mines behind Air Defenses. This structure is best when protecting loot matters more than preserving every trophy.
War layout: Use a compact diamond or offset-core design with the Clan Castle, Town Hall, both X-Bows, and heroes protected near the center. Storages should act as high-hit-point buffers in side compartments, not replace core defenses. Separate Wizard Towers and Air Defenses so one spell or Wall Breaker entry cannot neutralize an entire damage type. Place double Giant Bombs on likely Hog paths, Spring Traps between defensive buildings, and air traps behind the most probable air entry. This is the strongest option for anti-three-star defense.
Trophy layout: Use a ring or asymmetric diamond that forces attackers through two or more compartments before reaching the Town Hall. Keep the heroes on opposite sides of the core, use storages as delay buildings, and place Teslas where they break a clean funnel. Prioritize X-Bow and Wizard Tower coverage around the Town Hall, then move traps away from obvious deployment edges. Choose this plan when denying the first star is more important than protecting every resource.
Attack-path checks before adopting a TH9 base: missing-upgrade adaptations
- Trace the easiest ground entry from the outer buildings to the Town Hall. If one Wall Breaker line reaches the Clan Castle, heroes, and X-Bows together, add a compartment or move one high-damage defense off that line.
- Check the air route from each side. Air Defenses should not share one spell radius, and Seeking Air Mines should sit behind them rather than at the first deployment tile.
- Mark likely Hog, Giant, and Queen-Walk paths. Put Springs between defenses, Giant Bombs where troops must turn, and small Bombs behind walls that are likely to be opened.
- If an X-Bow or Air Defense is upgrading, move the remaining strongest defense beside the core and avoid layouts that depend on symmetrical coverage. If heroes are underleveled, keep them deeper and away from the obvious entry. Replace missing or weak traps by shifting nearby defenses to create a longer path, then test the map with a friendly challenge.
